The 5th Japanese Composition Speech Contest in the Republic of Lithuania

The Komaru Koutsu Foundation (Headquarters: Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture, Chairman: Shigehiro Komaru) co-sponsored with Hiroshima University and Vytautas Magnus University held the 5th Japanese Composition Speech Contest for the first time in 3 years on November 21st at Vytautas Magnus University (the Republic of Lithuania).



November 28th, 2022    The Komaru Koutsu Foundation (Headquarters: Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture, Chairman: Shigehiro Komaru) co-sponsored with Hiroshima University and Vytautas Magnus University held the 5th Japanese Composition Speech Contest for the first time in 3 years on November 21st at Vytautas Magnus University (the Republic of Lithuania). Attended guests of honor were Mr. Aurelius Zikas, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania to Japan, and Mr. Toyoei Shigeeda, former Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary. Fukuyama Transporting Co., Ltd. (Head office: Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture; President: Shigehiro Komaru) is a special sponsor. The theme of this contest was "transportation." The theme of this contest was "transportation." 1st place in the advanced level was Mr. Gvidas Dirzys from Vilnius University, who gave a speech, "I will never forget the most beautiful scenery ever seen from a plane on my first overseas trip." Through a Japanese Composition Speech Contest, we will keep on trying to raise awareness of traffic safety, further deepen understanding and strengthen friendly relations between Lithuania and Japan.
President Komaru was appointed as Honorary Consul of the Republic of Lithuania in Fukuyama in January 2017 and Honorary Consul General in February 2021. Through such projects as a goodwill visit to Lithuania on Japan's first direct flight by chartered airplane, he is promoting cultural and academic exchanges in addition to the economic field. This time, he made a second goodwill visit by chartered plane for this contest. He will continue to make efforts for the stable development of both countries by further deepening interaction in a wide range of fields, such as culture and personnel.
Komaru Koutsu Foundation was established on September 9th, 2013, to promote traffic safety awareness, hosting various traffic safety lectures in elementary schools across Japan, as well as handing out traffic accident prevention leaflets on the street. Furthermore, a Japanese composition speech contest is being held overseas to provide opportunities for presenting Japanese language education, experiencing cultural exchange, and spreading awareness of traffic safety.
