October 17^th, 2023    President of Fukuyama Transporting Co., Ltd. Shigehiro Komaru visited the Republic of Lithuania from October 11 to 16, 2023, and discussed the development of friendly exchange between Japan and the Republic of Lithuania with H.E. Ms. Giedre Balcytyte, Chancellor of the Lithuanian Government, and Mr. Jonas Survila, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs. H.E. Mr. Tetsu Ozaki, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Lithuania, and Mr. Toyoei Shigeeda, former Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Lithuania, were present at the meeting. They reported on exchange activities conducted thus far and shared opinions on exchange events implementation between the Republic of Lithuania and Japan.

Since becoming Honorary Consul of the Republic of Lithuania in Fukuyama in January 2017 and Honorary Consul General in February 2021, President Komaru has endeavored to have friendly relations between Lithuania and Japan. Through such projects as a friendship visit to Lithuania on Japan's first direct flight by chartered airplane in February 2020, he will continue to promote friendship and goodwill between the two countries in exchanging cultural, academic, and economic fields.
