- Toward Co-Creation to Achieve the SDGs ? First Joint "Initial Driver Training" Held

Fukuyama Transporting Co., Ltd. and Seino Holdings Co., Ltd. have been working together since April 2022 as part of our SDGs initiatives with green logistics in mind. This time, "Joint Implementation of Traffic Safety Education," a measure for SDG target ‡‚3 "Health and Welfare for All," was held on January 28 at Seino Transportation Co., Ltd., Tokyo Branch.



February 1th, 2023    Fukuyama Transporting Co., Ltd. (Head office: Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture; President: Shigehiro Komaru) and Seino Holdings Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Ogaki City, Gifu Prefecture, President: Yoshitaka Taguchi) have been working together since April 2022 as part of our SDGs initiatives with green logistics in mind. This time, "Joint Implementation of Traffic Safety Education," a measure for SDG target ‡‚3 "Health and Welfare for All," was held on January 28 at Seino Transportation Co., Ltd., Tokyo Branch (3-1-1 Shinkiba, Koto Ward, Tokyo).

16 drivers who joined the company in January and working in the Kanto area participated in this program. Mr. Hironori Matsubara, Assistant General Manager of the Safety Promotion Department of Seino Transportation Co., Ltd., gave an opening remark and said: "This initial driver training is stipulated by the Trucking Business Law. We are confident that collaboration of the educational know-how of both companies will enhance the quality of the training and contribute to training drivers who can provide even greater safety. I would like you to make this educational opportunity fruitful."
After orientation and self-introductions, using an instructional DVD and textbook, the participants learned how to prepare for truck driving, matters to be observed to ensure truck safety, and the structural characteristics of trucks in the morning. The afternoon training included learning the structural properties of the trucks, the points that need to be inspected daily, the function of parts, and the driving posture by using actual trucks at the parking lot on the rooftop.


As a closing remark, Mr. Katsuya Morishita, Managing Executive Officer in charge of safety management of Fukuyama Transporting Co., Ltd., gave the following words of encouragement: "The mission each of you has assigned is to safely and securely transport entrusted cargo to its destination. Today is the first step for you to play an active role as a driver in the future. I would like every one of you to review things you have learned today and make it reflect on your work performances.h


The participating drivers commented: "Since we are driving on public roads, we need to learn not only driving manners but also to set an example for public car drivers.h and gI will always be aware of the potential dangers that may lurk in our daily driving. I will not forget my driving posture and attitude, and be ready to respond appropriately when the time comes.h
