Komaru Koutsu Foundation (Head office: Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture; Chief Director: Shigehiro Komaru) held the 7th Japanese Composition Speech Contest on March 16th at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University of Ho Chi Minh City. In the presence of Mr. Masuo Ono, Consul General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City, the contest was co-hosted by the Hiroshima University Vietnam Center, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University of Ho Chi Minh City, and Fukuyama Transporting Co., Ltd (President: Shigehiro Komaru) was the special sponsor.
Out of 74 entries from 13 universities, 13 selected participants gave speeches on the theme of "transportation." Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhu from Lac Hong University won the grand prize for her speech on the illegal use of sidewalks in Vietnam and measures to prevent it. Through a Japanese Composition Speech Contest, we will continue to raise traffic safety awareness, further deepen mutual understanding between Japan and Vietnam, and strengthen friendly relations between the two countries.
The Komaru Koutsu Foundation was founded on September 9th, 2013, to promote traffic safety and prevent accidents. The foundation conducts various traffic safety lectures in schools throughout Japan and engages in educational activities to promote road safety. Additionally, the foundation supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by providing opportunities for students studying Japanese overseas to present the results of their studies. They also organize Japanese composition speech contests to raise traffic safety awareness and encourage cultural exchange with Japan.
