Two new 25m double-truck full-trailer and plans to start operations between Tochigi branch (Tochigi City, Tochigi Prefecture) and Kitakami branch (Kitakami City, Iwate Prefecture) after December 20.

Tokyo, Japan - December 18th, 2019    Fukuyama Transporting Co., Ltd. (Headquarter: Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture; President and CEO: Mr. Shigehiro Komaru; shortened as Fukuyama Transporting) has recently introduced two new 25m double-truck full-trailer and plans to start operations between Tochigi branch (Tochigi City, Tochigi Prefecture) and Kitakami branch (Kitakami City, Iwate Prefecture) after December 20. At the start of the operation, a departure ceremony was held on December 18 at the Tokyo main branch (Koto Special Ward, Tokyo Metropolis).

Up to now, Fukuyama transporting has been working along with the diversification of transportation modes to reduce the global environmental impact by reducing CO2 emissions, improving the driver's working environment and saving labor in arterial road transportation. As a part of this, a dedicated freight train starts operation in March 2013 and the first operation of transportation with 25m double-truck full-trailer starts between Nagoya branch (Kitanagoya City, Aichi Prefecture) and Susono sales office (Susono City, Shizuoka Prefecture).
This newly introduced 25m double-truck full-trailer is possible to transport about two regular large trucks with one and that leading to more efficient arterial road transportation and improve labor productivity, as well as reduce CO2 emission.

This time, the new route which is in response to the expansion of eligible routes for double-truck full-trailer announced by Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism in August 2019 will run between the Tochigi Branch, National Route 50, Tohoku Expressway Sano-Fujioka IC, Tohoku Expressway Mizusawa IC, National Route 4, and Kitakami Branch.
As driver shortage is expected due to the decline in the working-age population and the progress of the aging population in the future, Fukuyama Transport believes that the double-truck full-trailer is an effective way of transport to deal with the driver shortage. In addition, there are 1,371 (According to the end of November 2019) qualified persons (Extension license holder) who may drive double-truck full-trailer and we plan to increase the number in the future.
