The 3rd Japanese Composition Speech Contest in Republic of Lithuania

This contest was the first remote event to connect Japan and Lithuania with the desire to continue holding it amid the growing spread of coronavirus infections.



October 19th, 2020    The Komaru Koutsu Foundation (Headquarters: Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture, Chairman: Shigehiro Komaru) co-sponsored with Hiroshima University and Vytautas Magnus University, and on October 16th, the 3rd Japanese Composition Speech Contest was held at "Komaru Bustle Pavilion" of Hiroshima University.
This contest was the first remote event to connect Japan and Lithuania with the desire to continue holding it amid the growing spread of coronavirus infections.
Fukuyama Transporting Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture, President: Shigehiro Komaru, hereinafter referred to as Fukuyama Transporting) is a special sponsor.
Seven people gave speeches on the theme of "transportation" in this contest.
The highest award is Ms. Liucija Stankevi?i?t? of Vilnius University who gave a speech as follows. "While it is difficult to travel abroad due to the influence of the new coronavirus, it is rediscovered that nature is a beautiful in this country by traveling domestically in Lithuania and we must protect this nature."

Also, as guests, Mr. Gediminas Varvuolis, Lithuanian Ambassador to Japan, Mr. Shiro Yamazaki, Ambassador of Japan to Lithuania, Mr. Toyohide Shigeeda, former Ambassador of Lithuania, Mr. Mitsuo Ochi, President of Hiroshima University, and Mr. Linas Didvalis, Director of the Center for Asian Studies at Vytautas Magnus University attended.President Komaru has been striving to promote friendship and goodwill between Japan and the Republic of Lithuania since he became Honorary Consul of Lithuania in Fukuyama on January 30th, 2017.
In addition, Fukuyama Transporting formed a business alliance with HOPTRANS of Lithuania on August 12th, 2018, and promote cultural and academic exchanges in addition to economic fields in collaboration with educational institutions.

Komaru Koutsu Foundation was founded on September 9th, 2013 to promote traffic safety awareness, hosting various traffic safety lectures in Elementary schools across Japan, as well as handing out traffic accident prevention leaflets on the street. Furthermore, a Japanese composition speech contest is being held in oversea to provide opportunities for presenting Japanese language education, experience cultural exchange and spreads awareness of traffic safety.
