Komaru Koutsu Foundation (Head office: Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture; Chief Director: Shigehiro Komaru) held the 8th Japanese Composition Speech Contest on March 8th at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University of Ho Chi Minh City (the USSH, VNUHCM). The contest welcomed distinguished guests, including Mr. Isao Ijima, Special Advisor to the Cabinet, and Ms. Mina Yumioka, Consul of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City. It was co-hosted by Fukuyama City University, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University of Ho Chi Minh City, and Fukuyama Transporting Co., Ltd (President: Shigehiro Komaru) was the special sponsor.
Out of 77 entries from 14 universities, 14 selected participants gave speeches on the theme of "transportation." Ms. Le Vinh Tinh Thi from the USSH, VNUHCM, won the grand prize for her speech. She discussed that by utilizing electric energy, metros, and buses, Vietnam's car delivery service could potentially solve the issues of air pollution, traffic congestion, and accidents. Through a Japanese Composition Speech Contest, we will continue to raise traffic safety awareness, further deepen mutual understanding between Japan and Vietnam, and strengthen friendly relations between the two countries.
The Komaru Koutsu Foundation was founded on September 9th, 2013, to promote traffic safety and prevent accidents. The foundation conducts various traffic safety lectures in schools throughout Japan and engages in educational activities to promote road safety. Additionally, the foundation supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by providing opportunities for students studying Japanese overseas to present the results of their studies. They also organize Japanese composition speech contests to raise traffic safety awareness and encourage cultural exchange with Japan.
