Fukuyama Transporting Co., Ltd. (President: Shigehiro Komaru) sponsored the 27th Komaru Cup Youth Judo Championship, which was held on September 8 at the Fukuyama City Gymnasium, with the support of the Public Interest Incorporated Foundation Shibuya Ikueikai Foundation (Chief Director: Shigehiro Komaru). Approximately 140 elementary and junior high school students from around Fukuyama City participated in this event. Before the matches began, the venue was filled with excitement as the designated judo athletes from the Hiroshima Prefectural Police Headquarters demonstrated their martial arts skills and gave instruction in randori practice.
Since 1996, we have hosted this event to support children in nurturing sound minds, learning etiquette, and promoting judo in the region.
We will continue to support Shibuya Ikueikai's commitment to leading youth development, promoting education and culture, and helping local communities' development.
The Shibuya Ikueikai was established in June 1985 to support child education. Since then, the foundation has been working on various projects to improve the lives of individuals and communities. These including to provide scholarships for high school and university students, supporting educational institutions, and community groups that conduct cultural and healthy upbringing activities for youth. The foundation also extends support to children and students unable to attend school. Every year since 2013, the foundation has been inviting elementary and junior high school students around Fukuyama City to NHK Symphony Orchestra concerts to foster rich sensibilities.
