The Komaru Koutsu Foundation (Headquarters: Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture, Chairman: Shigehiro Komaru) held the 7th Japanese Composition Speech Contest at Darma Persada University on December 10th. Co-sponsored by Hiroshima University PERSADA Collaboration Project Center and Darma Persada University, the contest took place on-site for the first time in 3 years. The attended guest of honor was Mr. Kenji Kanasugi, Ambassador of Japan to Indonesia. For your information, Fukuyama Transporting Co., Ltd. (President: Shigehiro Komaru) is a special sponsor.
This year's contest has received 59 entries from 10 universities under the theme of "transportation", and 10 selected students presented the results of their daily studies in their speeches. The grand prize went to Mr. Muhammad Aziz Mazaya from the University of Indonesia for his speech on " Proper assessment of senior citizens’ driving ability will help to protect your precious ones’ lives. This contest aims to raise traffic safety awareness, deepen mutual understanding between Japan and Indonesia, and strengthen friendly relations.
Komaru Koutsu Foundation was established on September 9th, 2013, to promote traffic safety awareness, hosting various traffic safety lectures in elementary schools across Japan and handing out traffic accident prevention leaflets on the street. Furthermore, the foundation supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by providing opportunities for students overseas studying Japanese to present the results of their studies and organizing Japanese composition speech contests to raise traffic safety awareness and promote cultural exchange with Japan.
