The First Japanese Composition Speech Contest in the French Republic

The Komaru Koutsu Foundation organized the first Japanese Composition Speech Contest on June 30th at Sorbonne University INSPE in the French Republic.



June 30th, 2025    The Komaru Koutsu Foundation (Headquarters: Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture, Chief Director: Shigehiro Komaru) organized the first Japanese Composition Speech Contest on June 30th at Sorbonne University INSPE*1 in the French Republic. The event was honored by the presence of Mr. Isao Iijima, Special Advisor to the Cabinet, and Mr. Hiroyuki Yamaya, the Minister for Public Relations and Culture at the Embassy of Japan in France. The contest was co-hosted by Sorbonne University INSPE and Fukuyama City University with a special sponsorship from Fukuyama Transporting Co., Ltd. (Chairman: Shigehiro Komaru).

Students at Michel Ange Elementary School delivered speeches on the theme of "Transportation," aiming to raise awareness about traffic safety in France. Boursault Elementary School students composed and presented haiku poems in Japanese.
Through a Japanese Composition Speech Contest, we will continue to raise traffic safety awareness, further deepen understanding, and strengthen friendly relations between France and Japan.

Sorbonne University INSPE is a graduate school of education at Sorbonne University in France, specializing in teacher training for elementary and high school teachers.

The Komaru Koutsu Foundation was founded on September 9th, 2013, to promote traffic safety and prevent accidents. The foundation conducts various traffic safety lectures in schools throughout Japan and engages in educational activities to promote road safety. Additionally, the foundation supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by providing opportunities for students studying Japanese overseas to present the results of their studies. They also organize Japanese composition speech contests to raise traffic safety awareness and encourage cultural exchange with Japan.
