December 27th, 2017    The Shibuya Ikueikai Foundation (Headquarter: Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture; Chief Director: Noriyuki Komaru, Chairman and C.E.O. of Fukuyama Transporting Co., Ltd.) signed a renewed agreement regarding the educational exchange held in Beijing City, supported by China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE) and the Fukuyama city board of education.

Since 2006, The Shibuya Ikueikai Foundation has continuously supported the annual Japanese speech contest held in Beijing. This contest is a platform where students can showcase their academic results in Japanese language, which also provides an opportunity for Sino-Japanese cultural exchange and training of valuable human resources that will bridge the two nations closer together.

Furthermore in 2007, the Shibuya Ikueikai Foundation supported the memorandum signed between Beijing City board of education and Fukuyama city board of education, and in 2008 supported the annual program of dispatching Middle and High school students of Fukuyama city for cultural exchange in Beijing.

Now, after 10 years since the the signing of this memorandum of educational exchange, a brand new agreement has been signed that aspires for the expansion of education, engineering, and cultural exchange between the two nations.

In order to provide educational support for the children of the future, the Shibuya Ikueikai Foundation was established with the endowment from the private assets bequeathed by the late founder and honorary chairman of Fukuyama Transporting Co., Ltd. Noboru Shibuya. The foundation awards scholarships to high school and college students, and challenges the problems of school refusal students. The foundation also supports local educational institutions and cultural promotion organizations, as well as conducting activities that contribute to the healthy upbringing of the youth.
