January 24^th, 2022    Fukuyama Transporting Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture; President: Shigehiro Komaru) and the Komaru Koutsu Foundation (Chief Director: Shigehiro Komaru), jointly with the Saga Prefectural Police Headquarters, held a traffic safety class on trucks for 66 students of first and second graders at Chiyoda Seibu Elementary School in Kanzaki City, Saga Prefecture, on January 20th for the first time in Saga.

In response to a request from the Saga Prefectural Police Headquarters, which wants to prevent traffic accidents among elementary school children by helping them understand the importance of traffic rules and the fear of cars, the class used an actual truck to experience the characteristics and dangers of blind spots from the driver's seat and to learn about preventing traffic accidents at crosswalks. The children commented, "There were many things I couldn't see from the driver's seat of the truck, so I want to raise my hands when crossing the street.

We will continue our efforts to raise awareness of traffic safety so that even one traffic accident involving children will be reduced.

The Komaru Koutsu Foundation was founded on September 9th, 2013 in order to promote and raise traffic safety awareness, and has conducted traffic safety lectures at elementary schools nationwide and educational activities to prevent traffic accidents. We also provide opportunities for students studying Japanese overseas to present the results of their studies, and hold Japanese Composition speech contests to raise awareness of traffic safety and promote cultural exchange with Japan. We support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
