The Traffic Safety Class

Fukuyama Transporting Co., Ltd. and Public Interest Incorporated Foundation Komaru Koutsu Foundation held the traffic safety class for 203 second and fifth graders of Gifu Municipal Yanaizu Elementary School in Gifu Prefecture on June 25th.

June 25th, 2024    Fukuyama Transporting Co., Ltd. (Head office: Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture; President: Shigehiro Komaru) and Public Interest Incorporated Foundation Komaru Koutsu Foundation (Chief Director: Shigehiro Komaru) held the traffic safety class for 203 second and fifth graders of Gifu Municipal Yanaizu Elementary School in Gifu Prefecture on June 25th.

Due to the school's proximity to the industrial park and its location adjacent to an arterial road with heavy traffic, there is a need to minimize the risk of accidents involving large vehicles during student commutes. To address this, we organized an experiential learning program to avoid traffic accidents and raise safety awareness. The seminar offered students practical, hands-on experience to familiarize themselves with essential traffic rules and etiquette. They also learned the characteristics and potential dangers of trucks, safe behavior at intersections, and pedestrian crossings. As a result, students reported heightened awareness of safety measures and expressed their determination to exercise caution, particularly in areas that are challenging to observe from the driver's perspective.
We are committed to continuing our efforts to prevent and decrease the number of future traffic accidents among children by engaging in traffic safety education and raising awareness in cooperation with police stations and local authorities.

The Komaru Koutsu Foundation was founded on September 9th, 2013, to promote traffic safety and prevent accidents. The foundation conducts various traffic safety lectures in schools throughout Japan and engages in educational activities to promote road safety. Additionally, the foundation supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by providing opportunities for students studying Japanese overseas to present the results of their studies. They also organize Japanese composition speech contests to raise traffic safety awareness and encourage cultural exchange with Japan.
