February 8^th, 2024    Fukuyama Transporting Co., Ltd. (Head office: Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture; President: Shigehiro Komaru) and Public Interest Incorporated Foundation Komaru Koutsu Foundation (Chief Director: Shigehiro Komaru) held the traffic safety class for 41 children at Asakuchi Municipal Ryunan Daycare (Okayama Prefecture) on February 8th.

In response to a request from Ryunan Daycare, we conducted experiential learning to prevent traffic accidents and raise traffic safety awareness by understanding necessary traffic rules and manners. Children had hands-on experience learning the characteristics and dangers of trucks, safe behavior at intersections, and pedestrian crossings. They commented on how the experience helped to increase their traffic safety awareness, saying, "At crosswalks, I will make sure to step back and wait for the traffic lights to turn green.” To prevent and decrease the number of future traffic accidents among children, we will continue to engage in traffic safety education and raise awareness in cooperation with police stations and local authorities.

Komaru Koutsu Foundation was established on September 9th, 2013, to promote traffic safety awareness, hosting various traffic safety lectures in schools across Japan and carrying out educational activities to prevent traffic accidents. Furthermore, the foundation supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by providing opportunities for students overseas studying Japanese to present the results of their studies and organizing Japanese composition speech contests to raise traffic safety awareness and promote cultural exchange with Japan.
