Fukuyama Transporting Co., Ltd. (Head office: Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture; President: Shigehiro Komaru) and Public Interest Incorporated Foundation Komaru Koutsu Foundation (Chief Director: Shigehiro Komaru) held the traffic safety class for 42 children of Mihara Municipal Daiwa Accredited Childcare Center in Hiroshima Prefecture on September 20th, jointly with Hiroshima Prefectural Mihara Police Station.
As a part of the autumn nationwide traffic safety campaign, we organized a hands-on learning experience in response to a request from the Mihara Police Station. The aim was to educate children about essential traffic rules and manners to prevent accidents. They learned the characteristics and potential hazards of trucks, safe conduct at intersections, and pedestrian crossings. This experience enhanced their safety awareness, and the children mentioned that they found it hard to see from the driver's seat and promised to be cautious and avoid playing around or getting too close to trucks.
We are committed to continuing our efforts to prevent and decrease the number of future traffic accidents among children by engaging in traffic safety education and raising awareness in cooperation with police stations and local authorities.
The Komaru Koutsu Foundation was founded on September 9th, 2013, to promote traffic safety and prevent accidents. The foundation conducts various traffic safety lectures in schools throughout Japan and engages in educational activities to promote road safety. Additionally, the foundation supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by providing opportunities for students studying Japanese overseas to present the results of their studies. They also organize Japanese composition speech contests to raise traffic safety awareness and encourage cultural exchange with Japan.
