Tokyo, Japan - October 30th, 2017    Fukuyama Transporting Co. Ltd., (Registered office Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture; President & C.E.O. Shigehiro Komaru) together with Fukagawa Police Station and Etchujima elementary school in Koto ward, Tokyo, is to hold conducted a traffic safety class for 90 children in Year 3 of the school on October 30.

It was for the purpose of conducting regular activities to promote traffic safety that the company established the Komaru Foundation on September 9, 2013. Since then, 2,562 children from schools in Tokyo, Osaka and Hiroshima have taken the class, learning about the characteristics of trucks and understanding driver blind spots, as well as the rules of the road. The October 30 class takes place during the autumn national traffic safety campaign, when the company widely distributes leaflets and conducts other activities in towns and cities to raise awareness of preventing traffic accidents on the way to work or school. This is the fifth year the company has conducted the campaign.

Ninety children from Year 3 of elementary school practise traffic rules for bicycles. They then walk around the area and identify potential accident spots. They then draw a safety map showing the potential accident spots they have just identified.
