November 13^th, 2023    Fukuyama Transporting Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture; President: Shigehiro Komaru), Shibuya Ikueikai Foundation and Public Interest Incorporated Foundation Komaru Koutsu Foundation (Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture; Chief Director: Shigehiro Komaru) specially sponsored the 18th Japanese Composition Speech Contest by Chinese students, organized by Hiroshima University and Capital Normal University at Fukuyama Transporting head office on November 11. This year marks the 45th anniversary of the Treaty of Peace and Friendship between Japan and China. Following December, this would be the 3rd online contest.

The contest theme was "45th anniversary of the Treaty of Peace and Friendship between Japan and China." Out of 80 entries, 5 selected winners gave speeches based on their experiences describing the future relationship and exchange between Japan and China. The guests of honor included Mr. Sawago Nagamori, Counsellor of the Embassy of Japan in the People's Republic of China, and Mr. Li Junyang, Deputy Chief of Hiroshima University and Capital Normal University Joint Graduate School.

To provide an opportunity for students studying Japanese abroad to present the results of their studies, contribute to cultural exchange with Japan, and raise traffic safety awareness, the first Japanese Composition Speech Contest was held in Beijing, China, in 2006. Currently, in addition to Beijing, the contest is held in Shanghai and Guizhou in China, as well as in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, Jakarta in Indonesia, Kaunas in Lithuania, and San Francisco in the U.S.
