March 11^th, 2022    Fukuyama Transporting Co., LTD. (Head Office: Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture; President: Shigehiro Komaru) has participated in the "Relay Trucking Demonstration Experiment at Miyajima SA," the first such experiment in western Japan conducted by the Chugoku Regional Development Bureau of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and NEXCO West Japan.

In this experiment, drivers change vehicles at Miyajima SA (Hatsukaichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture) on the Sanyo Expressway, an intermediate point in the long-distance transportation between Kansai and Kyushu, and return to the direction from which they came. Normally, drivers traveling between Kansai and Kyushu are detained for approximately 15 hours, but by conducting relay trucking at Miyajima SA, the detention time is reduced by half to approximately 7 to 8 hours, making day-trip operation possible and leading to shorter working hours.

Through this experiment, we expect that it will support new approaches to improving the working environment for drivers and reforming work styles in the logistics industry, and we will promote the creation of safer and more efficient transportation modes.
