The 4th Japanese Composition Speech Contest in the Republic of Lithuania(conducted remotely in Japan)

This year's contest was held remotely between Japan and Lithuania to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus infection as was the case last year.



November 15th, 2021    The Komaru Koutsu Foundation (Head Office: Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture, Chief Director: Shigehiro Komaru) co-hosted the 4th Japanese Composition Speech Contest with the Hiroshima University Lithuanian Center and Vytautas Magnus University at the Fukuyama Transporting Head Office on November 13th. This year's contest was held remotely between Japan and Lithuania to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus infection as was the case last year.

Fukuyama Transporting Co., Ltd. (President: Shigehiro Komaru) was a special sponsor for the contest.

The contest this year was held under the theme of "Traffic", and eight contestants gave speeches.

The first prize was awarded to Ms. Monika Moisejeva of Vilnius University for her speech, "In order to prevent traffic accidents, we must follow the traffic rules as they have always been”.

Mr. Tetsu Ozaki, Ambassador of the Embassy of Japan in Lithuania is present as guests of honor. Mr. Toshiyuki Sato, Executive Vice President of Hiroshima University, and Mr. Linas Didvalis, Director of Center for Asia Studies at Vytautas Magnus University, were also present as the host of the contest.

Mr. Komaru, President of Fukuyama Transporting Co., Ltd. has been serving as Honorary Consul of the Republic of Lithuania in Fukuyama since January 2017, and became Honorary Consul General in February 2021. Also, Fukuyama Transporting formed a business alliance with JSC HOPTRANS HOLDING in Kaunas, Lithuania on August 12th, 2018.

In addition to the economic field, Fukuyama Transporting promotes cultural and academic exchanges in cooperation with educational institutions.

The Komaru Koutsu Foundation was established on September 9th, 2013 to promote and raise awareness of traffic safety. In Japan, the foundation holds traffic safety classes for elementary schools and conducts street activities such as distributing flyers to prevent traffic accidents. Overseas, it holds Japanese language composition contests to provide opportunities for students to present the results of their Japanese language studies and to promote cultural exchange with Japan and raise awareness of traffic safety.
