January 26^th, 2024    Mr. Shigehiro Komaru, President of Fukuyama Transporting Co., Ltd., held a ceremony to celebrate the completion of the Lithuanian Exhibition Hall at the Honorary Consulate-General of the Republic of Lithuania in Fukuyama. The completion ceremony opened in attendance with the Ambassadors of three countries including H.E. Dr. Aurelijus Zykas, the Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to Japan, and Mr. Naoki Edahiro, the Mayor of Fukuyama City. In addition to traditional clothing and artifacts, the area displays “Visas for Life” issued to Jewish refugees by Mr. Chiune Sugihara, the vice-consul of Japan in Kaunas, during World War II. The contents will help visitors become more familiar with Lithuania.

Since becoming the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Lithuania in Fukuyama in January 2017 and the Honorary Consul General in February 2021, President Komaru has endeavored to advance amicable relationships between Lithuania and Japan through projects such as a goodwill visit to Lithuania with a direct chartered airplane done three times. Fukuyama Transporting has had a business alliance with HOPTRANS Co. Ltd. since 12 August 2018, advancing cultural and business exchanges to promote the stable development of both countries.
