May 12^th, 2025    Fukuyama Transporting Co., Ltd. (Head office: Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture; President: Shigehiro Komaru) and the Komaru Koutsu Foundation (Chief Director: Shigehiro Komaru) organized a joint traffic safety seminar for 51 senior citizens at Fukuyama City Kasumi Community Center in Hiroshima Prefecture on May 12th with the Hiroshima Prefectural Fukuyama Higashi Police Station.
Due to the increasing number of traffic accidents involving senior citizens in Fukuyama City, the police station asked for our help to raise traffic safety awareness and prevent traffic accidents. During the seminar, the participants learned how to predict potential traffic dangers through hands-on experiences, using drive recorder footage and a bicycle simulator. This practical experience strengthened their safety awareness, and they expressed their desire to set a good example for the community by following bicycle traffic rules and manners.
To further prevent and reduce future traffic accidents involving senior citizens, we will continue to engage in traffic safety education and awareness initiatives in collaboration with police stations and local authorities.

The Komaru Koutsu Foundation was founded on September 9th, 2013, to promote traffic safety and prevent accidents. The foundation conducts various traffic safety lectures in schools throughout Japan and engages in educational activities to promote road safety. Additionally, the foundation supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by providing opportunities for students studying Japanese overseas to present the results of their studies. They also organize Japanese composition speech contests to raise traffic safety awareness and encourage cultural exchange with Japan.
