Fukuyama Transporting Co., Ltd. (President: Shigehiro Komaru) sponsored the 25th Komaru Cup Youth Judo Tournament held on September 11th at the Fukuyama City Gymnasium with the support of the Shibuya Ikueikai Foundation (Chief Director: Shigehiro Komaru).
The tournament this year is held in the presence of Athens Olympic silver medalist in judo, Mr. Hiroshi Izumi, and was attended by approximately 160 elementary and junior high school students from Fukuyama City and other parts of Hiroshima Prefecture. It was held for the first time in three years due to the effects of the new coronavirus infection.
We support this tournament, which has been held since 1996, in the hope that it will help children develop a sound spirit and learn good manners, as well as help spread judo in the region.
We will continue to support the Shibuya Ikueikai Foundation in its efforts to nurture youth, promote education and culture, and develop local communities.
Shibuya Ikueikai Foundation was established in June 1985 to support children's education. Since then, we have provided scholarship loans to high school and university students, as well as support for educational institutions, community organizations that promote culture and sound upbringing of young people, and organizations that address the problems of truant children and students.
Moreover, since 2013, we have invited elementary and junior high school students and other neighborhoods in Fukuyama to concerts by the NHK Symphony Orchestra to support the development of their rich sensibilities.
