The Komaru Koutsu Foundation (Headquarters: Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture, Chairman: Shigehiro Komaru) held the 9th Japanese Composition Speech Contest at Darma Persada University on December 14th, accompanied by the guest of honor Mr. Daisuke Hoshino, Minister of the Embassy of Japan in Indonesia. The speech contest was organized with Fukuyama City University and PERSADA, with Fukuyama Transporting Co., Ltd. serving as a special sponsor.
Under the theme "transportation," five students delivered speeches to raise traffic safety awareness in Indonesia. Ms. Riani Anggraeni from the Indonesia University of Education won the grand prize for her presentation on the importance of walking and its positive impact on society. She emphasized that walking benefits health, reduces traffic congestion, and helps protect the environment.
Through a Japanese Composition Speech Contest, we will continue to raise traffic safety awareness, further deepen understanding, and strengthen friendly relations between the two countries.
The Komaru Koutsu Foundation was founded on September 9th, 2013, to promote traffic safety and prevent accidents. The foundation conducts various traffic safety lectures in schools throughout Japan and engages in educational activities to promote road safety. Additionally, the foundation supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by providing opportunities for students studying Japanese overseas to present the results of their studies. They also organize Japanese composition speech contests to raise traffic safety awareness and encourage cultural exchange with Japan.
