May 25^th, 2022    Fukuyama Transporting Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture; hereinafter "Fukuyama Transporting") announced today that on May 24, Shigehiro Komaru, President of Fukuyama Transporting, was awarded the Honorary Doctorate Degree from Hiroshima University in recognition of his outstanding achievements in academic and cultural development and his contributions to the advancement of education, research and international exchange at the university. He is the second person at Fukuyama Transporting to receive this honorary title from Hiroshima University, following the late Chairman Noriyuki Komaru.

In May 2016, Fukuyama Transporting signed an "Agreement on Comprehensive Collaborative Cooperation" and as part of the agreement, established an endowed courses in "Sleep Medicine" at Hiroshima University due to contribute to the prevention of traffic accidents and the development of local communities through industry-academia collaboration.

In addition, Fukuyama Transporting and the Shibuya Ikueikai Foundation, a related organization, make efforts to develop international exchanges such as donation for the construction of the “Fukuyama Transporting Komaru Nigiwai (Lively) Pavilion” as a student-centered place to create a lively atmosphere at the Hiroshima University, and the co-sponsorship program of the Japanese Composition Speech Contest at overseas bases of Hiroshima University to provide a wide range of educational support not only for Japanese but also for students from overseas.
