September 29^th, 2025    Fukuyama Transporting Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture; Chairman: Shigehiro Komaru) and the Komaru Koutsu Foundation (Chief Director: Shigehiro Komaru) held “Traffic Accident-Free (Jiko-Nashi) Campaign” on September 26 at the Kodani rest area on the Sanyo Expressway. This event was organized as part of the national Autumn Traffic Safety Campaign, in cooperation with the Hiroshima Prefectural Police Headquarters Expressway Traffic Police Unit.

The Autumn Traffic Safety Campaign is a nationwide initiative designed to raise public awareness of traffic safety, promote compliance with traffic laws, and encourage responsible road behavior to help prevent accidents. During the event, 200 pears were distributed?symbolizing the wish for “zero accidents” (as the Japanese word for pear, nashi, also means “none”)?alongside traffic safety-themed goods. The initiative received positive feedback from participants, with many pledging to be more cautious, such as promising to maintain a safe following distance when driving.

To help reduce traffic accidents, we will continue to work closely with the police and local authorities to advance traffic safety education and raise public awareness.

Established on September 9, 2013, the Komaru Koutsu Foundation is dedicated to promoting traffic safety through educational activities, including lectures in schools throughout Japan. The foundation also supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by offering opportunities for international students studying Japanese to showcase their learning. It organizes Japanese composition speech contests focused on traffic safety, fostering both awareness and cultural exchange.
