March 23^th, 2022    Fukuyama Transporting Co., Ltd. (Head office: Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture, President: Shigehiro Komaru) and Japan Freight Railway Company (Head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President: Koichi Shingai) have announced that a block train “Fukuyama Rail Express” currently operating between Tokyo Freight Terminal Station (Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo) and Higashi Fukuyama Station (Hikino-cho, Fukuyama City), has been extended to Hiroshima Freight Terminal Station (Minami-ku, Hiroshima City). A departure ceremony was held at the Hiroshima Freight Terminal Station on March 22 to mark the start of the service.

3. Train configuration: 22-car formation
4. Transportation volume: 31ft, 44 containers ※ per train (88 containers for round trip)
※Each container is equivalent to one large truck.
5. Goals
・To improve labor conditions for truck drivers
・Achieve carbon neutrality through modal shift to railroad and proactive efforts to
reduce CO2 emissions to prevent global warming
※CO2 emission reductions due to this train operation will be 34,512 tons per year.
(CO2 emission reductions in the extended section will be 850 tons per year.)
