Fukuyama Transporting Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture, President: Shigehiro Komaru, hereinafter referred to as Fukuyama Transporting) will start today with a new route operation between Fukuyama Transporting Headquarter (Fukuyama city, Hiroshima prefecture) and Fukuoka Distribution Center (Fukuoka city, Fukuoka prefecture).
At the start of operation, a departure ceremony was held today at the Fukuyama Transporting Headquarter in Fukuyama.
The operation on this new route will be carried out in response to the expansion of the target routes for double connected trucks announced by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism in August 2019. The new route is 「Fukuyama Transporting Headquarter-National Highway 2- Sanyo Expressway Fukuyama Nishi IC-Kyushu Expressway Fukuoka IC-National Highway 201-Fukuoka Distribution Center 」.
In October 2017, Fukuyama Transporting began operating the first 25m double connected truck in Japan between the Nagoya Distribution Center (KitaNagoya city, Aichi prefecture) and Susono Distribution Center (Susono city, Shizuoka prefecture). The second operation was between Tochigi Distribution Center (Tochigi city, Tochigi prefecture) and Kitakami Distribution Center (Kitakami city, Iwate prefecture) in December 2019. Thus, this is the third operation route.
The "25m double connected truck" can transport about two ordinary heavy-duty trucks with one unit, improving the efficiency of trunk transportation, improving the working environment of drivers, and contributing for reducing the global environmental load by reducing CO? emissions.
In addition, there are 1,531 qualified persons (towing license holders) who may drive double connected trucks (as of the end of February 2021), and we plan to increase the number in the future.
