Fukuyama Transporting Co., Ltd. (Head office: Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture; president: Shigehiro Komaru) and the Komaru Koutsu Foundation (Chief Director: Shigehiro Komaru) held a ceremony to donate Japanese books to the Komaru Library at Darma Persada University in the Republic of Indonesia on December 14th. Since its opening in 2017, we have donated approximately 1,030 Japanese books to support Japanese language education.
The Komaru Library serves as a platform for mutual exchange between students, providing an opportunity to deepen understanding and strengthen friendly relations between the two countries.
Darma Persada University was founded in 1986 by the Association of Indonesian Alumni from Japan (PERSADA) to facilitate Indonesia's development through study abroad experiences in Japan. At the faculty of language and culture, a considerable number of students are learning Japanese.
The Komaru Koutsu Foundation was founded on September 9th, 2013, to promote traffic safety and prevent accidents. The foundation conducts various traffic safety lectures in schools throughout Japan and engages in educational activities to promote road safety. Additionally, the foundation supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by providing opportunities for students studying Japanese overseas to present the results of their studies. They also organize Japanese composition speech contests to raise traffic safety awareness and encourage cultural exchange with Japan.
