3rd Annual Japanese Speech contest held in Guizhou, China

This year the theme of the contest was "Artificial Intelligence and it's application in Traffic", to which a total of 50 people submitted their speeches.



Guizhou, China - March 31st, 2018    In collaboration with the Consulate-General of Japan in Chongqing, Guizhou University, and Hiroshima University, Komaru-Koutsu Foundation (Chief Director: Noriyuki Komaru, Chairman and C.E.O. of Fukuyama Transporting Co., Ltd.) conducted the third annual Japanese speech contest, held in Guizhou University (Guiyang, Guizhou Province). Fukuyama Transporting Co., Ltd. (Headquarter: Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture; President : Shigehiro Komaru) was a special sponsor of this event.

In effort to spread the awareness for traffic safety, Fukuyama Transporting established the Komaru-Koutsu Foundation in September 9th, 2013. In Japan, the foundation conducts traffic safety classes at Elementary schools, as well as street activities such as handing out leaflets about accident prevention. Furthermore, the foundation conducts Japanese speech contests in several countries to provide cultural exchange, an opportunity to showcase their Japanese ability, and promote traffic safety.

The contest held in Guizhou first started in 2016, which this year has now become the third. Moreover, in China, the contest is also held in Shanghai, Beijing, as well as Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, and Jakarta, Indonesia. In 2017, a total of five speech contests were held between the aforementioned countries.

This year the theme of the contest was "Artificial Intelligence and it's application in Traffic", to which a total of 50 people submitted their speeches. Out of the 6 best speeches that were selected, Li Le Xue, a 3rd year student at Guizhou Normal University was selected as the grand winner, which honor was awarded by Shigehiro Komaru, the standing officer of Komaru-Koutsu Foundation.

Amongst the attendees of the event were the Consulate-General of Japan in Chongqing Michihiko Komatsu, Vice President and Officer Toshiyuki Sato of Hiroshima University, and Vice President Wang Xiao Mei of Guizhou University School of Foreign Language.

Striving to create an accident free environment, the foundation educates Elementary school students traffic safety rules, as well as promoting safe driving on the streets of Japan. As of July 1st of 2015, the foundation was officially registered as a Public Interest Incorporated Foundation.
