Fukuyama Transporting Co., Ltd. (Head office: Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture; president: Shigehiro Komaru) and Public Interest Incorporated Foundation Komaru Koutsu Foundation (Chief Director: Shigehiro Komaru) conducted the "Traffic Accident-free (Jiko-Nashi) Campaign" at the Motomachi Credo Fureai Plaza in Naka-ku, Hiroshima City, on September 30th. This event was part of the Autumn Nationwide Traffic Safety Campaign and was co-organized with Hiroshima Prefectural Police Headquarters and Hiroshima Central Police Station. It was the third implementation in Hiroshima City.
The Autumn Nationwide Traffic Safety Campaign aims to raise public awareness of traffic safety and prevent accidents by promoting proper compliance with traffic safety rules and manners. Around 40 people, including members of the local neighborhood association, participated in this campaign. We distributed 400 Nashi pears and traffic safety goods to pedestrians and bicyclists, wishing them a safe and accident-free (Jiko-Nashi) society. This activity reminded users of the importance of accident prevention and wearing helmets while riding bicycles.
To reduce the number of future traffic accidents, we will continue providing traffic safety education and raising awareness in collaboration with police stations and local authorities.
The Komaru Koutsu Foundation was founded on September 9th, 2013, to promote traffic safety and prevent accidents. The foundation conducts various traffic safety lectures in schools throughout Japan and engages in educational activities to promote road safety. Additionally, the foundation supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by providing opportunities for students studying Japanese overseas to present the results of their studies. They also organize Japanese composition speech contests to raise traffic safety awareness and encourage cultural exchange with Japan.
