September 12th, 2025    Shigehiro Komaru, Chairman of Fukuyama Transporting Co., Ltd., was awarded the Foreign Minister’s Commendation for Fiscal Year 2025. The commendation was presented by Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya on September 5 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This prestigious award recognizes individuals and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to promoting friendship and goodwill between Japan and other nations across a broad range of international fields.

Chairman Komaru, who also serves as Chief Director of the Komaru Kotsu Foundation, was honored for his significant contributions to international exchange through educational and cultural initiatives. Under his leadership, the Foundation has organized Japanese speech contests centered on transportation in countries such as Lithuania, France, the United States, China, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, and Malaysia. These provide students studying Japanese abroad with valuable opportunities to showcase their language skills and deepen cross-cultural understanding.

Additionally, the Foundation donates Japanese books to universities in these countries, promoting the global spread of Japanese language education and fostering cultural exchange. The commendation also acknowledges the Foundation's contribution to academic collaboration through partnerships with Fukuyama City University, Sonoma State University (USA), and Biagi Bros (USA).

In Japan, the Komaru Kotsu Foundation actively promotes traffic safety awareness by conducting educational programs, particularly in elementary schools. Internationally, it continues to raise awareness of traffic safety while strengthening cultural ties through its speech contests.

Looking ahead, the Foundation remains committed to advancing mutual understanding and goodwill between Japan and the global community through continued efforts in education, culture, and international cooperation.
