Attendance at "Japan Days in Kaunas WA", Kaunas-European Capital of Culture 2022

Mr. Shigehiro Komaru, President of Fukuyama Transporting Co., Ltd. was invited by Mr. Visvaldas Matijosaitis, Mayor of Kaunas City, Republic of Lithuania, to attend "Japan Days", an event related to the European Capital of Culture 2022, and therefore visited on April 30, 2022.



May 20th, 2022    Mr. Shigehiro Komaru, President of Fukuyama Transporting Co., Ltd. was invited by Mr. Visvaldas Matijosaitis, Mayor of Kaunas City, Republic of Lithuania, to attend "Japan Days", an event related to the European Capital of Culture 2022, and therefore visited on April 30, 2022.

At the ceremony, Mr. Komaru gave a speech introducing past activities to strengthen exchanges between the two countries and to promote friendship and goodwill between the two countries such as holding a speech contest of Japanese composition by students of the Republic of Lithuania, donation of books to Kaunas University, and the first direct flight by chartered aircraft to Japan for goodwill visits. The participants also met with Mr. Simonas Kairys, Minister of Culture, who represented the Republic of Lithuania, and exchanged opinions on various type of exchange activities and future plans between Japan and Kaunas City and the Republic of Lithuania.

Mr. Shigehiro Komaru, President of Fukuyama Transporting was appointed Honorary Consul of the Republic of Lithuania in Fukuyama in January 2017 and Honorary Consul General in February 2021.

Through such projects as a goodwill visit to Lithuania on Japan's first direct flight by chartered aircraft, he is promoting cultural and academic exchanges in addition to the economic field. We will continue our efforts to promote friendship and goodwill between the two countries in the areas of economy, culture, and education.
