The 4th Japanese Composition Speech Contest in Vietnam

This was the first remote event to be held between Japan and Vietnam in the midst of the spread of the new coronavirus infection.



April 19th, 2021   The Komaru Koutsu Foundation (Head Office: Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture, President: Shigehiro Komaru, hereinafter referred to as "Komaru Koutsu Foundation") held the 4th Japanese Composition Speech Contest at the Fukuyama Transporting Head Office on April 17, jointly with the Hiroshima University Vietnam Center and Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City. This was the first remote event to be held between Japan and Vietnam in the midst of the spread of the new coronavirus infection.
Fukuyama Transporting Co., Ltd. (President: Shigehiro Komaru) served as a special sponsor.

This year's contest consisted of 101 applicants from 12 universities, 12 of whom passed the preliminary screening and gave speeches on the theme of "transportation". The Grand Prize was awarded to Ms. Huynh Nhat Phuong Vien of Trade University, who gave a speech on how "each one of us can protect our own life as well as the lives of others by taking care of small things.
Mr. Nobuhiro Watanabe, Consul General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City was also present as a guest of honor, as well as the organizers, Toshiyuki Sato, Director and Vice President of Hiroshima University, and Ngo Thi Huong Lan, President of the University of Humanities and Social Sciences, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City.

The Komaru Koutsu Foundation was established on September 9, 2013, with the aim of promoting and raising awareness of traffic safety. In Japan, the foundation holds traffic safety classes for elementary schools and conducts street activities such as distributing flyers to prevent traffic accidents. Overseas, it holds Japanese Composition speech contests to provide opportunities for students to present the results of their Japanese language studies and to promote cultural exchange with Japan and raise awareness of traffic safety.
